Situated on Lantau Island, this huge, seated Buddha (or Tian Tan) is a majestic 34-metre high figure. Cast in China, it took ten years to complete and weighs 220 tons. It was unveiled in 1993 accompanied by an elaborate religious ceremony. Walk up the hundreds of steps to admire the colossus up close before going back down again to the museum inside the base of the statue for information about the Buddhist faith.
